HPE Stopped Supporting 3PAR. Your Workloads Didn’t Stop Running.
3PAR StoreServ. Primera. Alletra 9000. Three brands, one architecture, one team of engineers who know it inside and out.
The 3PAR architecture is one of the most successful enterprise SAN platforms ever built. Its Gen5 ASIC, mesh-active controller architecture, and thin provisioning capabilities defined a generation of mission-critical storage. When HPE acquired 3PAR in 2010, it became the centerpiece of HPE’s enterprise storage strategy. Primera refined the architecture for all-flash NVMe workloads in 2019. Alletra 9000 rebranded it again in 2021. And now HPE is pushing everyone toward Alletra MP B10000 and GreenLake.
But the 3PAR architecture is still running production workloads across thousands of enterprises. The 8000 series and 20000 series were massively deployed for Oracle, SQL Server, SAP, VMware, and general-purpose SAN consolidation. These systems are reliable, capable, and still performing well, the only thing that’s changed is that HPE has declared end of support. Maven IT Solutions provides expert third-party maintenance for every generation of the 3PAR lineage, from the original StoreServ 7200 through Primera 650, with full 3PAR OS and Primera OS software expertise.

Frequently Asked Questions: 3PAR / Primera Maintenance
The entire 3PAR StoreServ line is EOSL. Can Maven really support it?
Yes. 3PAR is one of Maven’s core HPE competencies. The 3PAR 8000 and 20000 series were massively deployed, and a significant portion of Maven’s HPE storage customers run 3PAR arrays. We maintain dedicated 3PAR parts inventory (controller nodes, drive cages, SSDs, FC ports) and 3PAR OS-specialized engineers.
Does Maven support Peer Persistence for our VMware environment?
Yes. Peer Persistence is one of the most critical and complex 3PAR/Primera features, it provides transparent failover for VMware vSphere and Windows Server clusters. Maven’s engineers configure, monitor, and troubleshoot Peer Persistence including quorum witness management, path switching, and failover/failback testing.
My Primera 600 was just declared end of life. How long until it’s unsupported?
Primera launched in 2019 and was declared end of life in 2023 when Alletra 9000 replaced it. HPE typically provides support for several years after EOL, but Pointnext renewal pricing escalates aggressively. Maven can take over maintenance now at significant savings, and you’ll likely get faster response times than your current Pointnext tier provides.
Can Maven support environments with 3PAR replicating to Primera or Alletra 9000?
Yes. Cross-generation Remote Copy relationships (3PAR → Primera, Primera → Alletra 9000) are common in environments that upgraded one site but kept the other on the previous platform. Maven supports the full replication topology under a single contract.
What about 3PAR InForm OS vs. Primera OS? Does Maven support both?
Yes. 3PAR runs 3PAR OS (formerly InForm OS), while Primera and Alletra 9000 run Primera OS. These are related but distinct operating systems. Maven assigns engineers based on the specific OS running on your arrays.
Will switching to Maven affect our 3PAR software licenses?
No. Your 3PAR OS software licenses (Peer Persistence, Remote Copy, Virtual Copy, Adaptive Optimization, etc.) are tied to your hardware and are perpetual. Switching maintenance providers does not affect licensing.
